This June, Pattison Onestop, Coach House Books and Art for Commuters (A4C) have teamed up for a third year for the return of the popular city-wide, interactive media-art project, Stroll City beginning on June 4, 2012.
With more than three million people moving in and out of our city every day, you’d like to imagine that they’re doing more than just rushing between home and work with their heads staring down at their feet and the path in front of them.
Shawn Micallef, editor of Spacing Magazine and author of Stroll: Psychogeographic Walking Tours of Toronto, has always kept his head up, and for the better part of the last decade, he has been trying to inspire his neighbours to lift theirs as well.
Shawn is already tweeting his exploration of the city to the Twitter handle @StrollCity and will continue to do sountil the 24th of June, 2012.
You have until then to tweet your discoveries and observations of our great city to @StrollCity. Throughout those days, your tweets will be broadcast on the network of Pattison Onestop’s TTC subway platform screens throughout Toronto, as part of a rotating 30-second spot, every ten minutes.
Take a chance at having your tweets be read by commuters on subway stations all across the city, and get involved by encouraging your community members to engage with our city in this unique way!
“I hope people who read the tweets will simply get excited about the city and start paying attention to it in whatever way they want,” says Micallef, “When we’re in our routines, especially on transit, where we’re often late for work or thinking about where we’re going, we tend not to pay attention to what’s around us. Hopefully this gets people looking and thinking.”
