It was a great year for TUFF, and we want to thank all our filmmakers, sponsors, supporters, as well as the over 388 people from around the world who submitted to the festival this year!

This year we screened 85 impressive, silent one-minute films from 15 countries on our network of screens across the Toronto subway system. This means that TUFF films played over 96,000 times during our 11 day festival, reaching an audience of over one million commuters daily. In addition to this, TUFF played non-stop for the run of the festival at Your Underground Cinema – St Andrew station. TUFF also appeared above ground, with a commissioned project for PATTISON’s downtown video billboard by Toronto art collective Public Studio.

This year TUFF expanded across Canada with a programme of Canadian ‘Local Stories’ playing on PATTISON Onestop shopping mall screens across Canada, and a programme of ‘Travel Stories’ playing at the Calgary International Airport. More info here.

There were a number of films that were ‘Too TUFF for the TTC‘, and we selected 5 for our online-only program of great films too risqué to screen on public transit.

We also had a special screening room at the DRAKE Hotel and screened all the 2014 films at our amazing Awards Gala, where we celebrated all the filmmakers and awarded this year’s winning films. Check out our Awards Gala album on TUFF’s Facebook page.

TUFF received some great press this year from a mainstream media outlets and bloggers alike, including CBC Radio / Here and Now and CHCH TV / The Watch List. For a list of print highlights visit: http://www.torontourbanfilmfestival.com/news
